Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our team at Intermountain Health McKay-Dee Hospital. As an Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for providing medical support to athletes and patients in a community youth or high school setting. Your primary assignment will be to support the medical needs of our assigned partner, providing medical coverage on field and in the training room for injured athletes during practices and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for athletes and patients, working independently after evaluation and treatment plan establishment.
  • Assess and administer first aid to injured athletes, documenting all incidents and making appropriate physician referrals when necessary.
  • Oversee the operation of the Athletic Training room, ensuring proper supply levels, maximal coverage, and a professional atmosphere.
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, school administrators, parents, athletes, patients, physicians, and other sports medicine team members, maintaining accurate records of all evaluations, referrals, and treatments.
  • Provide education and training on injury prevention, advocating for overall health literacy, nutrition, and mental health wellbeing.
  • Engage in the implementation of marketing strategies for Intermountain Sports Medicine Programs, participating in regional or hospital-specific events such as community events, health fairs, and other activities.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders at assigned schools, including athletic directors, school administrators, coaching staff, boosters, and parents, through regular attendance at school meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities.
  • Facilitate care coordination for student athletes, parents, and stakeholders, ensuring proper quality and service, and attending necessary sports medicine staff meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with degree verification required.
  • Current State Licensure for Athletic Training.
  • Credentialed as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with working knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal relationships, including athletes, school administrators, coaches, physicians, and other sports medicine team members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as an Athletic Trainer at a college or university.
  • Completion of a formal Athletic Trainer internship at a college or university.
Work Environment

This is an exempt professional position with variable hours, requiring flexibility to accommodate school seasonal or calendar needs, including time spent traveling to away games and occasional weekends, early mornings, and other hours.
