About the Role

This position will be part of the Emory Office of Information Technology (OIT) Research Solutions group, working on a hybrid HPC support team. The successful candidate will work with technical teams and Emory faculty to engineer well-designed cloud solutions that advance knowledge discovery, tackle challenging scientific problems, and accelerate business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with technical teams and Emory faculty to design and implement cloud solutions.
  • Meet with customers to understand business and scientific requirements, translate requirements into application designs, and develop technical delivery strategies.
  • Prototype cloud solutions and work with implementation teams to implement solutions that comply with University regulations and utilize Emory technology solutions effectively.
  • Provide training, implementation help, and technical troubleshooting services to customers.
  • Contribute to the documentation of use cases and the development of reusable patterns and guidelines.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary working groups and work closely with Enterprise and solutions architecture teams to implement reusable frameworks.
  • Contribute to quality outcomes through best practices in software implementation, such as peer reviews, coding, design sessions, streamlined release processes, thorough testing, and validation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, math, engineering, or a related field, and five years of related experience, including experience in customer-facing technical roles, architecting and implementing solutions in cloud infrastructure, professional software development, and experience as part of multi-disciplinary teams to design and implement enterprise applications and integrations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of various AWS products and their applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Slurm cluster management software.
  • Experience with specialized computing, such as GPU, parallelization, and DevOps aspects, such as containers and automation.
  • Experience working within an academic, research, or scientific institution.
  • Experience working with standard practices in project management (PMI), service management (ITIL), and systems development lifecycle.
  • Strong and precise communications skills and the ability to create and foster positive and creative relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Familiarity with scientific data, bioinformatics packages, big data analysis methods, or machine learning algorithms.
