Night Custodian

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Night Custodian to join our team at Vernon Township School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable school environment.

• Ensure the building is secure and all lights are turned off before leaving.
• Keep buildings and premises clean and tidy at all times.
• Monitor and maintain heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Check exit doors and panic bolts daily to ensure they are functioning properly.
• Display the U.S. flag during school hours.
• Clean and dust classrooms, offices, and other areas daily.
• Clean corridors and bathrooms regularly.
• Perform groundskeeping chores, including grass-cutting and leaf raking.
• Conduct minor repairs and report major repair needs to the head custodian.

• Black Seal License Required.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Knowledge of plant operation and maintenance.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
