About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor I to join our team at Georgia Southern University. As a key member of our advising team, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic advising to undergraduate students, helping them to achieve their academic and career goals.
  • Build strong relationships with students, interpreting information about course descriptions, program requirements, and registration procedures.
  • Monitor student academic progress, assist with developing academic schedules, and make referrals to on-campus services.
  • Support students in establishing academic and career goals, identifying and addressing challenges that may negatively impact student success.
  • Assist with contacting students to schedule appointments and provide notification of meetings and special events.
  • Provide current and returning students with in-depth information about course descriptions, prerequisites, program requirements, and registration procedures.
  • Participate in New Student Onboarding and Orientation, creating presentations, resolving academic-related issues, and evaluating courses.
  • Comply with and enforce student and academic policies.
  • Represent the center, unit, and university at institutional meetings and events as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain student files and records, keeping track of performance indicators, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One (1) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $46,800, paid on a monthly basis. This is an exempt position.
