Microbiologist Role in Biospecimen Acquisition

Nesco Resource is seeking a Senior Microbiologist to join their team in Pleasanton, California. In this role, you will be an integral contributor to the daily laboratory operations and sample delivery to fulfill service requests. This position requires hands-on work in the laboratory to culture various microorganisms.

About the Role

This Senior Microbiologist will design, plan, and execute assigned project activities using established procedures and applying scientific knowledge and accumulated experience. The ideal candidate will have experience culturing within an anaerobic chamber and performing bacterial enumeration, MPN, and identification with MALDI-TOF. Familiarity with microbial taxonomy and identification is also required.

The successful candidate will analyze data, evaluate results, form conclusions, and implement process improvements. They will accurately and consistently record experimental methods, materials, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks. Additionally, they will present findings at group or departmental meetings and contribute to the definition and timely achievement of overall project goals.

Requirements & Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, or Microbiology, along with 5-7 years of relevant industry experience. You must be able to manually manipulate samples on a routine basis and work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Experience working in BSL-2 laboratory conditions is also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Able to grasp new concepts quickly, with excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication skills, and strong data analysis skills. Experience with ddPCR, LIMS software, and eLN is preferred. Project Management experience is also beneficial.
