Position Overview

Operates radiologic machinery to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray images as instructed by healthcare providers and performs standard diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Positions patients and modifies equipment settings for x-ray imaging, adhering to established protocols. Ensures compliance with safety regulations while operating radiologic machinery.
  • Guides patients through the procedures.
  • Analyzes radiologic images for characteristics such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  • Develops and processes radiologic images. Delivers images to the requesting physician for evaluation.
  • Maintains the x-ray examination area. Ensures availability of necessary medical and radiological supplies.
  • Cleans and performs minor repairs on radiologic equipment. Responsible for routine upkeep and notifying vendors of any malfunctions.
  • Manages the distribution of x-ray reports and images, keeping a log of their location.
  • Coordinates radiologic examinations to be conducted at external laboratories, as required.
  • Compiles and prepares x-rays along with physician interpretations for radiologist review.

Supervisory/Management Role

This position does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Essential Qualifications

Associate's Degree: Completion of an accredited radiology program

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

  • SCRQSA license RSQA - RAD QUALITY STANDARD
  • American Registry for Radiology Technologists (ARRT) certification for Radiology
  • New graduates must obtain and submit Permanent SCRQSA license within 30 days of passing ARRT registry. May work with temporary B SCRQSA license for 30 days.

Alternative Qualifications

  • In lieu of the accredited radiology program, completion of the diploma program through AnMed Health is acceptable. Additionally, any education considered grandfathered by the American Registry for Radiology Technologists is also acceptable.
  • Team members in this role as of a specified date are grandfathered from the education and experience requirements listed above pending state and regulatory requirements.

Additional Skills and Experience

One year of experience in a physician practice is preferred.
