Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Grinding Technician to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a Grinding Technician, you will be responsible for operating the grinder to grind meat and ensuring that the product meets the customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the fresh grinder to deliver a product that meets the customers' expectations
  • Set up and shut down the machine
  • Verify product and POs prior to dumping product from combo into the auger hopper
  • Input required data and record weight of product in Condor / Vision
  • Inspect product for foreign material
  • Perform plate / blade checks and document results/findings accordingly
  • Complete end of shift inventory of raw cooler and freezer
  • Follow GMPs, Safety and Quality Assurance rules and procedures
  • Wear required PPE
  • Follow allergen control procedures
  • Ensure proper housekeeping throughout shift
  • Report any concerns to a member of management
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on safety and quality. The Grinding Technician will be required to work in a wet and/or humid environment, with exposure to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. Personal Protective Equipment is required.
