Key Responsibilities
Perform histology-related tasks with knowledge, competency, and appropriateness to patient ages. Demonstrate excellent microtomy skills on paraffin and frozen sections. Communicate technical problems to the Department Supervisor. Demonstrate competency in accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, routine and automated staining, and coverslipping. Resolve technical issues independently. Perform and record Quality Control results. Maintain laboratory instruments. Perform procedures within documented competency. Send specimens to reference laboratories. Periodically review work for compliance with SOP.
Requirements
AAS in Medical Technology or related Science. NYSED license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Certified Histology Technician. Proficiency in MS Office suite of products. Ability to communicate in writing, using advanced writing skills.
