The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a skilled tradesperson responsible for performing varied and complex work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment at KC CARE Health Center. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance and monitoring activities on a variety of equipment
- Repair and replace wall tile, floor tile, and various wall coverings and fixtures
- Assemble, repair, and construct furniture, doors, shelves, and various equipment
- Perform basic plumbing repairs and installation, including opening stopped sewage and drain lines, faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, and other various plumbing fixtures and equipment
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical outlets, lighting fixtures, and overcurrent protection devices
- Comply with all existing OSHA requirements and regulations
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years' experience in building maintenance
- Painting, drywall patch, and repair experience
- Valid driver's license
- Carpentry skills
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will work in a healthcare facility environment, which may expose them to viruses, diseases, and infections from patients. They may also experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric traumatized and deceased patients. Travel may be required to community meetings, client homes, or other agencies.
The physical demands of this role include regularly standing, walking, and setting; talking and hearing; using hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office or clinical equipment; reaching with hands and arms; and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds. Mental demands include using written and oral communication skills; reading, analyzing, and interpreting data, information, and documents; analyzing and solving non-routine and complex problems; using math and mathematical reasoning; observing and interpreting situations; learning and applying new information or skills; performing highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; working under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interacting with others outside of their department.
