Senior Product Development Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Development Manager to lead our product research, design, development, and production readiness efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-value product solutions that meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the engineering design process from conceptual design to product documentation, analysis, testing, verification, and validation.
- Own the product realization process, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cost estimation, production methods, and seamless handoff to operations.
- Create and maintain sound engineering processes, ensuring consistent use by the engineering team.
- Provide resource management and prioritization for new and existing product developments, ECO projects, and process improvement initiatives.
- Engage stakeholders and lead product/process analysis for safety, quality, cost, and efficiency improvements.
- Guide and mentor internal resources for high performance and effective utilization.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, and Business Development to define project scope, schedule resources, and create initial product requirements.
- Maintain design history and ensure compliance with internal requirements, engineering principles, certification standards, and customer specifications.
- Report key department metrics, ROI, and project milestones to the leadership team.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technical innovation to maintain CMC's market leadership.
- Conduct performance reviews and maintain open communication with department staff.
- Participate in industry trade shows, customer meetings, and supplier visits.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Excellent proficiency in Engineering Design and CAD/CAE tools, particularly SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including working with tolerances, drawings, and measuring tools.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Project management skills with ability to prioritize work and provide direction on projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using hand and power tools, machining knowledge, and familiarity with rope, textile, and/or sewn goods desirable.
- Familiarity with English language required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. in engineering with preference in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 years' experience in manufacturing and/or product development desired.
- 3+ years engineering management leadership experience.
Work Environment:
The work environment is in a manufacturing facility with moderate noise levels. The physical demands include walking, standing, and lifting up to 40 pounds of materials. Some business travel is required.
Compensation:
The estimated salary for this position is $115,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
