Role of the Certified Nursing Assistant:
The primary responsibility of the Certified Nursing Assistant is to ensure the daily care, health, safety, and comfort of residents under the guidance of a Staff Nurse.


Key Responsibilities:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, your duties will include:

Daily Care Tasks:
Assisting residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and dressing;

Providing meals, snacks, and hydration, while adhering to nutritional guidelines;

Monitoring and caring for catheters as directed by nursing staff;

Supporting residents with mobility, including turning, positioning, and transferring as needed;

Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance;

Maintaining a clean and organized living environment for residents;

Observing and reporting any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors;

Offering emotional support and fostering trust with residents to promote independence in daily activities;

Ensuring confidentiality and privacy of all resident information at all times;

Documenting incidents and care provided in accordance with facility policies.


Documentation and Compliance:
Providing accurate medical record documentation as required, including vital signs and intake/output monitoring;


Adhering to safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a sanitary work environment;

Following emergency procedures and reporting any witnessed abuse immediately;

Utilizing protective devices appropriately under the direction of nursing staff;

Maintaining cleanliness of nursing service areas and equipment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:


High school diploma or GED is required unless working under a student permit.

Certification as a C.N.A. in good standing with the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). CNAs from other states may work temporarily while awaiting certification.

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs such as Excel and Word.

Understanding of safe nursing practices within the State of Indiana.

Essential Skills:
Ability to assist licensed nurses within the scope of practice;

Competence in following written and verbal instructions, with the ability to work independently;

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with residents, families, and staff effectively;

Judgment in prioritizing tasks according to established standards;

Discretion in handling confidential information and adherence to HIPAA regulations;

Patience and a positive attitude in providing care to residents of varying maturity and physical abilities;

Commitment to professional ethics and effective communication regarding residents' conditions.
