Job Summary

Chapman University is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician III to join our facilities team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for executing scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective maintenance activities to our university HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for campus mechanical systems, including site inspections, equipment adjustments, filter replacement, condenser cleaning, and benchmarking of various parameters.
  • Respond to work order requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain equipment rooms in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Assist HVAC technicians as needed and provide support for special events.
  • Act as a standby support for rain leak emergencies, including roof patching, sandbag filling, and placement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of general mechanical experience with a demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Ability to reason logically in priority setting and problem-solving.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate with all levels of the campus community and business contacts.
  • Ability to work in a variety of physical environments, including heights of up to 30 feet.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to safe working practices as defined by industry and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices as defined by California DMV.
  • Ability to comprehend, complete, and implement employer-provided training.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous or current training in mechanical/HVAC disciplines.
