The Psychiatrist III is responsible for conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and reporting directly to the Medical Director of the facility. This role involves overseeing psychiatric practices, diagnosing, and treating residents with specialized psychiatric care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
- Ensure the effective implementation of treatment plans by providing necessary training and consultation to behavioral health and direct care staff.
- Participate in regular meetings to discuss treatment strategies and facilitate necessary changes within the care protocols.
- Engage in Peer Review Committees to enhance performance and quality of care.
- Lead and participate in clinically relevant committees to establish guidelines and standards of care based on current research and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and guide the work of team members in a multidisciplinary approach to resident care.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain regular attendance and may be required to work on a rotating schedule, including on-call duties as necessary.
- Utilize a multidisciplinary approach to conduct psychiatric assessments and administer treatments in accordance with established policies.
- Perform medication reviews in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with care standards.
- Establish and maintain physician-patient relationships through direct interactions, particularly with newly admitted individuals.
- Conduct scheduled psychiatric clinics and respond to emergency psychiatric needs as they arise.
- Document treatment plans that reflect the unique psychiatric needs and preferences of each individual.
Qualifications:
Must hold an unrestricted medical license in Texas and be Board Certified or Board eligible in Psychiatry. A current DEA registration and a National Provider Identifier (NPI) are also required.
Experience:
Preferred candidates will have completed residency training and possess at least three years of experience in psychiatric practice, particularly with individuals experiencing mental illness and intellectual disabilities.
Additional Information:
All applicants must undergo a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process. Flexibility in work hours may be necessary, including potential weekend and holiday shifts.
