Job Summary

The Life Care Center of LaGrange is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Recreational Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing quality activities for patients, ensuring their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement activity programs that cater to the diverse needs of patients, including entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education.
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor the activities team's performance and ensure patient needs are being met.
  • Chart patient progress and behavior in a descriptive and accurate manner.
  • Escort patients to and from activities and make regular in-room visits to patients who are unable to participate in group activities.
  • Effectively manage and operate within budget to ensure the smooth delivery of activities programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients during emergencies.
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance and concentrate on tasks to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless delivery of care.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in a social recreation program within the last five years, with one year of full-time experience in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting.
  • Completed state-approved activity training.
  • Prior experience with geriatrics is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in arts, crafts, and music is preferred.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and implement programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a post-acute care facility.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours. The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language is essential.
