Job Title: Mill Associate

At Hood Distribution, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mill Associate to join our team. As a Mill Associate, you will be responsible for the sorting, cutting, and processing of raw materials into lumber and timber products of various sizes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate forklift truck during the loading and unloading of lumber material
  • Utilize cutting tools and equipment such as power saw and circular saw
  • Oversee the sorting arrangement of lumber according to size
  • Guide lumber through mill equipment, and plan mill for fine finishing and processing
  • Take inventory and maintain accurate record of material, process orders
  • Maximize production time and finish product yield
  • Perform quality control on finished products
  • Maintain PPE and safety equipment
  • Ability to calculate tallies (understand difference between LF & BF)
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during work operations
  • Physical strength, dexterity, and stamina
  • Manage routine maintenance and necessary repairs on equipment
  • Assure that stock is handled properly and rotated to minimize waste and damage
Requirements:
  • High School diploma
  • Some experience in warehouse operations, distribution, etc. in building materials or related product areas. Forklift operation certification and hardwood knowledge is preferred
