- Assist anesthesiologists in various tasks
- Graduation from high school and one year experience as an anesthesia technician or two years of clinical experience working in a hospital setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of equipment and supplies needed on anesthesia carts for all age groups, medical terminology, aseptic technique, pharmaceuticals used in anesthetic procedures, department and hospital safety practices and procedures, patient rights, infection control policies and practices, handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials, department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures, age specific patient care practices
- Skill in anesthesia machine checks, calibrating oxygen flow, performing Leak tests, adjusting date x monitors, sterilizing various equipment used in anesthesia procedures, using computer and variety of software applications, communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties, efficient, effective and safe use of equipment
