The Infrastructure Systems Specialist plays a pivotal role in overseeing the installation and maintenance of systems software applications, aiding in the assessment, customization, and deployment of vendor-provided systems software solutions, and delivering technical support and insights to fellow systems programmers. This role will also involve leading initiatives to identify and investigate hardware system components. The Infrastructure Systems Specialist will analyze performance metrics and utilization data, preparing capacity planning reports as needed to ensure adequate resources are available to meet operational demands. Additionally, this position will be responsible for designing and executing the Business Continuity Plan and conducting annual assessments.
Essential Qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in IBM mainframe Operating System Programming is essential.
- Preferred experience in Systems Programming with DB2 within a Mainframe setting.
- Proficiency in Storage Administration is required.
- Experience with IOCP/HCD Administration is necessary.
- Security Administration experience is preferred (CA-Top Secret).
- Strong knowledge of IBM operating system troubleshooting and resolution support utilities is essential.
- Experience in diagnosing and resolving system and application issues is required.
- Familiarity with SMP/E for installing operating systems and program products along with necessary updates is mandatory.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
- Experience with z/VM is preferred.
