Paramedic - Emergency Department - Lorain Hospital

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a skilled Paramedic to join our team in the Emergency Department at Lorain Hospital. As a Paramedic, you will provide direct patient care under the guidance of a RN or designated healthcare professional, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provides basic patient care and tasks, including vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
- Performs lab draws, ECGs, basic wound care, and other unit-based specialty duties under the direction of an RN or Physician.
- Completes patient rounding as assigned and assists with giving patient instructions and discharge.
- Administers medication in a safe manner consistent with the State Scope of Practice and Organization Policies and Procedures.
- Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's families, community providers, visitors, and employees.
- Accurately and precisely documents patient care and participates in handoff report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- ACLS – AHA (Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association) (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- PALS – AHA (Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association) (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- Current paramedic-level certification (required)
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Successful completion of a Paramedic program at the certificate or associates degree level (required)
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel. General office environment. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids.* May be required to use physical restraints. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials.* May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc. May have periods of constant interruptions. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Prolonged periods of working alone.*
