Geologist - Exploration and Development

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geologist to join our Exploration team at OceanaGold. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our gold exploration programs at and near the Haile gold mine and in the eastern USA.
Key Responsibilities- Support Exploration Programs: Collaborate with the Manager of Exploration to define, plan, and implement exploration programs to extend the Life of Mine (LOM) and increase resources and reserve base.
- Geological Work: Oversee and contribute to geological work, including core and RC chip logging, drill logistics, sample collection, geologic mapping, geologic log review and reinterpretation, QAQC tracking and reporting, and other areas as needed.
- 3D Digital Geologic Models: Oversee and contribute to the development of 3D digital geologic models and generate interpretive sections and plan maps.
- Drill Target Development: Develop drill targets through conceptual geological understanding and applied deposit knowledge, including interpretation of lithological, structural, mineralogical, geochemical, and geophysical data sets.
- Technical Reporting: Contribute to technical reports and reporting products for a variety of audiences.
- Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement through contributing to the optimisation of systems, processes and practices, regularly reviewing and identifying new opportunities.
- QA/QC Protocols: Oversee and contribute to robust QA/QC protocols to ensure the quality and integrity of data.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of geologists.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Geology or closely related field required, Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: 7-15 years of precious or base metal exploration experience.
- Skills: Competence with industry-standard modelling and database software preferred (i.e. Leapfrog, Vulcan, ArcGIS, acQuire). Demonstrated interpretive geological skills using lithological, structural, geochemical, and geophysical data. Experience with core logging and mapping. Good understanding of mineralization models and geological processes. Understanding of economic parameters of mining operations and exploration projects.
- Personal Qualities: Strong interpersonal and team-building skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment.
- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday. Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment.
