Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Lead Software Safety Engineer to join our esteemed organization. This full-time position is integral to the advancement of our safety initiatives within the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) System Safety Program. The selected candidate will collaborate with the System Safety Team, delivering specialized support in Warfare System and System Safety Engineering for the CPS program.

Key Qualifications:
  • Over 15 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 7 years focused on Systems Safety.
  • Proven experience in safety programs related to advanced combat and weapon systems.
  • Familiarity with the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) and the Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP).
  • Expertise in database management, programming (C and C++), and hazard tracking systems.
  • A formal degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical, operational, and engineering assistance to systems and software engineering teams.
  • Perform analyses and evaluations of safety risks.
  • Lead and participate in engineering and safety assessments.
  • Conduct risk assessment studies with an emphasis on software-related risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Present findings to formal boards, including WSESRB.
  • Analyze System Safety Plans, Safety Management Plans, and safety testing documentation.
  • Engage in research, design, development, and testing of software utilized in Department of Defense weapon systems.
  • Utilize cutting-edge model-based tools for analysis.
  • Examine engineering artifacts related to system design and development.
Travel Requirements:
  • Regional and occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support various tasks.
Security Clearance:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Eligibility for access to classified information is required.
Work Schedule:
  • Flexible working hours.
