Leidos Defense Systems is on the lookout for a Senior Radar Systems Engineer to become a key member of our skilled team within the RF System Technologies Department.

The primary objectives of our department encompass the development, integration, and testing of advanced radar systems.

These objectives involve the in-house creation of hardware subsystems, including T/R modules, antennas, and digital receivers/exciters, utilizing a mix of internal research and development (IRAD) and customer funding.

Our department engages in radar design, hardware assembly, algorithm creation, software engineering, and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing and analysis across a diverse range of research, development, and operational projects.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will contribute to a wide array of phased array radar hardware and software design, prototyping, integration, and analytical tasks.


Desired Experience:
  • RF Design – Proficiency in Up/Down converters, oscillators, analog and digital beamforming networks, RF cascades, transceivers, and phased array antenna performance evaluations.
  • Calibration – Expertise in far-field and/or near-field calibration methods for Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs).
  • Tracking – Design and evaluation of Kalman filters, Interacting Multiple Models (IMMs), and detection-to-track association methodologies.
  • Radar Resource Management – Scheduling strategies for optimal command of AESA front-end hardware.
  • RF Test Equipment – Familiarity with RF troubleshooting tools such as Vector Network Analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the design, development, and testing of radar systems, or 2 years with a Master’s degree.
  • Proven track record in one or more of the specified experience areas.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, and candidates must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise across all experience areas.
