Position Overview:
The Physician will deliver comprehensive medical care by assessing patients, diagnosing ailments, and administering treatments. This role involves guiding nursing staff, aides, and other healthcare professionals in patient care and treatment protocols. Additionally, the Physician may oversee clinical operations and engage in research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient examinations and document medical histories.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic assessments.
- Collaborate with other medical professionals to evaluate and enhance patients' physical and mental well-being.
- Prescribe and administer necessary treatments, therapies, medications, and vaccinations to prevent or manage illnesses and injuries.
- Provide emergency medical interventions as required.
- Offer guidance to patients regarding health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
- Coordinate efforts with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other healthcare providers.
- Supervise and direct the activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
A medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) is required, along with licensure or eligibility to practice medicine in Georgia as mandated by state regulations. The Physician must also be Board Eligible.
Employment Requirements:
To ensure the safety and health of our employees and the communities we serve, certain roles within GeorgiaGov may necessitate evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure, and certifications. All licenses must be current and permit practice within the State of Georgia.
Required Evaluations and Vaccinations:
- Drug Screening
- TB Evaluation
- Annual Influenza Vaccination*
*Limited exemptions may be granted for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs opposing vaccinations.
