Support Worker

We are seeking a Support Worker to join our team in the Kirkland area. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily lives.
The ideal candidate will be able to provide personalized support and care to our participants, assisting with their dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs. You will also be responsible for redirecting behaviors with various activities as needed.
Responsibilities:- Provide support to program participants that meets their needs and provides opportunities for community integration.
- Create a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.
- Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.
- Provide each participant with an array of instruction and support services, as described in the participants' Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).
- Ensure that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
- Assist participants with regularly accessing the community to take part in a variety of outings of the participants' choosing. This may require transporting participants or arranging for transportation.
- Treat participants with dignity and consideration, promoting and safeguarding each participant's ability to make decisions and freely exercise their rights.
- Interact with participants, provide informal counseling, and problem-solve with participants.
- Attend staff meetings as required by the House Manager or the Site Supervisor and/or Administrator.
- Attend training required by the agency, DDA, and other parties.
- Take part in the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant with whom they work.
- Will become Nurse Assistant Registered (NAR) at employee's own expense initially and annually.
- Must enroll and complete Nurse Delegation study course and take the test within 30 days of employment.
- Provide necessary support and supervision of participants.
- Maintain professional working relationships with other services providers, the participants' parents/relatives/guardians, and other agency staff.
- Responsible for timely completion of all documentation, including but not limited to, the medication log, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Minimum Experience: Personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behaviors strongly preferred.
- Minimum Driving Experience: Must have a valid in-state driver's license and be able to provide current car insurance.
The estimated salary for this position is $22.00-$26.00 per hour, based on the location in Kirkland, WA.
