Oncology Hospitalist Physician

Become part of a physician-led 500+ provider multispecialty group with a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. As an Oncology Hospitalist, you will be responsible for the management of oncology inpatient care at a leading medical center. This includes the acute management of existing hematology/oncology inpatients as well as inpatient consultations from referring physicians for hematologic or oncologic related issues. Your role entails a traditional Internal Medicine scope of practice with an added focus on hematology and oncology. You will manage necessary chemotherapy in collaboration with the patient's primary oncologist and manage inpatients undergoing radiation therapy.
The Oncology Hospitalist works closely with ambulatory medical oncologists within a comprehensive cancer institute. Anchored with locations in Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, and Ontario, and telemedicine opportunities through the region, the cancer institute is a full-spectrum practice, QOPI certified, and CoC accredited, offering rewarding opportunities including over 100 clinical trials. The integrated program also has leading surgical expertise with the state's only fellowship-trained surgical oncologist along with other highly specialized, fellowship-trained physicians to support a growing program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage oncology inpatient care at a leading medical center.
- Collaborate with ambulatory medical oncologists for patient care.
- Manage necessary chemotherapy in collaboration with primary oncologists.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for inpatients undergoing radiation therapy.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
- Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Internal Medicine residency program.
- Board certified or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS).
- Successful completion of a Medical Oncology/Hematology fellowship preferred, but not required.
