Job Summary: The Boston Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled School Psychologist to provide psychological services to students ages pre-school through 22 years old who attend public, private and parochial schools in Boston.

About the Role: As a School Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic, prescriptive, and remedial services to students. This includes conducting psychological and educational evaluations, participating in Individualized Educational Planning Meetings, and providing consultation services to teachers and other professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychological and educational evaluations for Boston students who attend public, private and parochial schools.
  • Participate actively in Individualized Educational Planning Meetings to produce comprehensive and appropriate educational plans for students being evaluated.
  • Provide consultation services to teachers and other professionals to assist them in helping each student reach their potential in the least restrictive educational environment.
  • Conduct classroom screening to assist teachers in planning effective educational strategies for all students.
  • Provide prevention and counseling services as needed, both individually and in small groups.
  • Provide intervention as needed and serve as a member of the crisis response team.
  • Work cooperatively with all members of the Office of Special Education and Student Services team, as well as all school staff to enhance the services offered to all students in the school system.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Assistant Director of Psychological Services.

Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you must be licensed as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Education and demonstrate competency in the theory, administration, and interpretation of recognized standardized instruments. You should also have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with diverse populations.
