Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team at Bryan Health. The successful candidate will provide athletic training services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician, and in accordance with the state athletic training practice act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and provide game/contest coverage for athletes at assigned schools.
  • Design and implement preventative injury programs; identify, evaluate and provide immediate care/referral for athletic injuries.
  • Act as a liaison between family physicians, medical specialists, school representatives, athletes, their parents, coaches and athletic directors.
  • Provide athlete consultation, practice coverage and injury tracking documentation for athletes at assigned schools; implement pre-season, in-season and post-season strength and conditioning programs.
  • Notify coaches and athletic director of athletes who are not medically eligible to compete.
  • Provide medical coverage for assigned school athletic camps during summer months.
  • Review pre-game and practice taping and preparation with athletes to provide information regarding injury risks; make recommendations for athlete safety and hydration based on environmental conditions.
  • Develop treatment programs in accordance with findings of evaluations and goals established by the injury assessment or treating physician; schedule athlete treatments and/or interventions as necessary per established guidelines; assess athlete's status in response to treatment and modify program as appropriate and/or in conjunction with treating physician.
  • Refer athletes for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking; maintain accurate records/documentation of injuries, treatments and provide insurance claim forms for sports injuries treated by a physician.
  • Develop and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies; recommend new equipment and supplies to ensure optimum quality of athlete's care.
  • Follow established policies and procedures specific to athletic training room and the athletic healthcare program.
  • Present educational programs for the healthy and injured athletes, e.g., alcohol and other drug abuse, performance anxiety.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in health-related field required.
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certification required.
  • Prior athletic training/conditioning experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
