Job Title: Custodian

Join the Rankin County School District team as a Custodian, responsible for maintaining a safe, attractive, and efficient learning environment for students, staff, and guests.

Job Summary:

The Custodian will provide exceptional cleaning and maintenance services to ensure the school facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting
  • Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal temperatures and energy efficiency
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of restrooms, classrooms, and common areas
  • Report any maintenance or repair issues to the principal or facilities manager
  • Assist with special events and projects as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
