Position Summary:

The Pediatric Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering personal medical assistance and support with daily living tasks that enhance the quality of life for our young patients. This position enables children to remain in their homes or facilities while strictly maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide, assist, assess, and document medical care, including:
  • Basic first aid interventions
  • Monitoring weight and vital signs
  • Catheter and bowel management, including intake and output tracking
  • Implementing range of motion exercises and other activities as directed by therapy professionals
  • Supporting ambulation, transfers, and positioning using wheelchairs and other medical equipment
  • Preparing meals tailored to dietary and nutritional requirements
  • Addressing special conditions and needs within the authorized scope of practice

  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene, including:
  • Support with bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, skin and nail care, oral hygiene, dressing, and eating

  • Ensure thorough completion and coordination of all necessary documentation, such as:
  • Maintaining and finalizing patient and family records after each visit
  • Observing and reporting significant changes in the patient's condition to the supervising nurse

  • Deliver hands-on personal care and perform basic procedures as an extension of nursing services.
  • Execute services as prescribed by the physician in the care plan, within the aide's legal scope of practice.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current, unrestricted certification or proof of training as mandated by state regulations
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Proven proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and adherence to care policies and procedures

  • Continuing education as required by state regulations

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and climb stairs
  • Adequate visual and auditory acuity
  • Strong sense of smell and touch
  • Ability to reposition patients and move equipment independently
  • Capacity to respond appropriately to emergency situations in various settings
