Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Piedmont Ear Nose and Throat Associates. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service, facilitating the registration process, and ensuring the smooth flow of patients through our practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide superior customer service to patients, answering phone calls, greeting patients, and maintaining a clean and welcoming reception area.
  • Assist new patients with completing medical history and information forms, and register patients efficiently.
  • Keep patients informed about wait times, maintain a neat work area, and project a professional image.
  • Facilitate smooth patient flow by cross-covering in all areas, generating encounter forms, and notifying clinical staff of patients' readiness for appointments.
  • Document late, cancel, or no-show appointments, and ensure complete and accurate records for clean claims submission.
  • Collect and post co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at time of service, and review patients' insurance coverage.
  • Schedule return appointments in accordance with scheduling guidelines and provider orders, and maintain a list of patients who did not keep scheduled appointments for provider review.
  • Support sound fiscal operations by posting quick pay receipts, counting and logging cash drawer daily, and assisting with segregation of accounting duties.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and privacy by complying with HIPAA provisions and practice policy.
  • Comply with OSHA requirements and minimize risk to patients, co-workers, and self by maintaining a working knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Organize the flow of practice information by routing calls, taking complete and accurate messages, and providing clerical assistance as workflow permits.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical office assisting curriculum preferred.
  • Prior customer service/business office experience, preferably in a medical facility; EHR experience helpful.
