As a Pharmacy Order Entry Technician at PharMerica, you will be integral to the precise and efficient handling of prescription orders within our specialized pharmacy environment. Your role is vital in ensuring that the pharmaceutical needs of our long-term care and senior living clients are met with the utmost accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage, interpret, and accurately input medication orders into our computerized system, adhering to established pharmacy standards.
- Conduct drug calculations and perform necessary mathematical conversions.
- Address and resolve issues related to claims denials through the Point of Sales (POS) system.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicaid claim regulations and procedures.
- Generate reports and keep management informed regarding pending unpaid claims.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients, aligning with company values.
- Assist in drug preparation and dispensing under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by management, contributing to various areas of pharmacy operations.
- Utilize a headset for call management and employ a computer for data entry and information retrieval across multiple applications.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Pharmacy Technician License as mandated by state regulations.
- A minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience, including at least 6 months of data entry experience.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals, medication terminology, and the metric system.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on goals and teamwork.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage high call volumes and process orders efficiently.
- Willingness to work overtime or extended hours as necessary.
- Proficient typing skills, with a minimum speed of 40 words per minute.
