About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps in Falls Church, VA, as a Physician (Pathology) in a state-of-the-art hospital setting.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to provide expert care to our nation's heroes and their families. As a Physician (Pathology), you will be responsible for performing surgical procedures, rendering expert diagnoses, and providing analysis of studies to augment surgical and clinical specimens.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pathology, general medicine, emergency medicine, and the basic sciences, with the ability to act as an authoritative consultant on complex diagnostic and treatment problems.

This is a mission-essential position with a rotating on-call schedule, requiring the ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

As a Physician (Pathology), your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing surgical procedures to gross surgical specimens from surgical, radiological, and other invasive procedures.
  • Rendering expert gross and microscopic diagnoses.
  • Providing analysis of studies to augment surgical and clinical specimens.
  • Ensuring proficiency testing, alternative assessment, and quality control procedures are sufficient for the extent of testing performed in the laboratory.
  • Providing expert lectures to medical students, residents, fellows, and practitioners about pathology and speaking at scientific meetings on a national and international level.
  • Overseeing and teaching other healthcare providers (physicians, residents, and medical students).
Qualifications

US Citizenship is required.

A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States is required.

Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology certification is required.

Board Eligibility/Certification in Pathology is required.
