The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is seeking a Lead Bartender to enhance our hospitality offerings. This esteemed establishment, recognized as a Historic Hotel of America, is situated in a vibrant area known for its charm and culture.

Work Schedule: Expect to work four to five days a week, totaling approximately 30-35 hours. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Position Overview: The primary responsibility is to warmly welcome guests while efficiently selling, preparing, and serving beverages and light snacks. The Lead Bartender will assist the Food & Beverage Manager with closing duties, inventory management, and ordering processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Report to all scheduled shifts punctually and in full uniform.
  2. Punch in to the appropriate department no more than 5 minutes before the shift starts and punch out immediately after the shift ends.
  3. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, delivering friendly, courteous, and efficient service.
  4. Serve consistent, high-quality beverages and cocktails to guests.
  5. Possess comprehensive knowledge of drink recipes and presentation standards.
  6. Handle all cash, credit, and room charge transactions accurately, maintaining responsibility for the cash bank during shifts.
  7. Be aware of current and expired packages and gift certificates, ensuring proper handling of checks.
  8. Monitor guests' alcohol consumption to prevent over-serving and manage intoxication situations effectively.
  9. Address dissatisfied guests with professionalism, offering to involve a manager when necessary.
  10. Ensure cleanliness and organization in the bar area and back workstation by completing all side work and daily cleaning tasks.
  11. Adhere to all state liquor laws regarding the sale and service of alcohol.
  12. Assist in training new staff members.
  13. Follow safe food service procedures.
  14. Become proficient with the bar's computer systems.
  15. Monitor the presence of friends and family of staff at the bar to ensure compliance with service standards.
  16. Maintain professional conversations with staff, keeping personal discussions to a minimum.
  17. Attend all scheduled meetings set by management.
  18. Understand food and beverage business fundamentals, including sales trends and inventory management.
  19. Foster a service culture that prioritizes exceptional customer experiences, modeling and coaching staff to meet service standards.
  20. Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the essential duties outlined. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and calculate rates, ratios, and percentages using American currency.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: TIPS Certification is required.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with relevant experience or training.

Language Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals is necessary. Effective communication skills are required for interacting with customers and colleagues.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and address problems in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: This role requires standing for extended periods, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: Employees may encounter wet or humid conditions and moderate noise levels while performing their duties.

Safety: Adherence to safety protocols outlined in the department manual is mandatory, with immediate reporting of any accidents to a supervisor.
