Tool Room Machinist Job Description

QPS Employment Group is seeking a skilled Tool Room Machinist to join our team in Elkhorn, WI. As a Tool Room Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components
  • Perform maintenance and repair of tools, fixtures, and dies
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements
  • Measure, examine, and test completed components to ensure they meet quality and tolerance standards
  • Ensure safe operation of all machines and follow safety procedures at all times
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and improve tooling designs
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
  • Inspect and verify the accuracy of finished products using precision measurement tools
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a tool and die environment
  • Proven experience as a toolroom machinist or similar role
  • Proficiency in using manual lathes, milling machines, and other machine shop equipment
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools
  • Ability to work with a variety of materials, including metals and plastics
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a machine shop environment
  • Vocational training or certification in machining or a related field
