Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographer to join our team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. As a Polysomnographer, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive evaluations and treatments of sleep disorders. This will involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services for patient care and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
  • Review patient medical information, verify physician orders, and implement lab protocols and procedures.
  • Instruct patients on the hook-up procedure and testing process for overnight testing.
  • Accurately and safely apply electrodes and sensors to patients, using universal standards and according to policy and procedures.
  • Perform data acquisition and collection procedures according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one-year duration associated with a state-licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a polysomnographic technician.
  • Registered Polysomnographer Technologist.
  • Certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or equivalent.
  • Licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians.
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) within 90 days.
