Position Overview

This is a temporary assignment within the Department of Homeland Security, specifically within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, Communications Center Division (CCD). The CCD plays a crucial role in ensuring officer safety by providing monitoring services for over 60,000 federal law enforcement personnel, including various fee-for-service agencies, around the clock.

Assignment Details

Duration: 1-year non-reimbursable assignment
Security Clearance: Secret
Remote Work: Not applicable
Eligibility: Current, full-time federal employees only.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Independently coordinating necessary assistance and providing requested law enforcement information in real-time through various communication technologies.
  • Monitoring and managing the Key Management Facility (KMF) and other Over-the-Air Rekey (OTAR) network equipment to ensure optimal performance and subscriber configuration.
  • Analyzing and assessing potential issues and providing actionable recommendations regarding law enforcement operations and system efficiency.
  • Utilizing report generation tools to extract relevant data from national, regional, and local law enforcement databases.

Conditions of Employment

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Must be a current permanent Federal employee.
  • Must obtain supervisory approval to apply for this assignment.
  • Must not have any pending disciplinary actions.
  • Must have received a satisfactory performance appraisal.
  • Must currently hold the same grade level as the detail.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
  1. Comprehensive knowledge of database information systems and their operational principles.
  2. Proficiency in utilizing various data sources available through national and international operational systems.
  3. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing documentation and briefings.
  4. Ability to operate integrated communication systems, including radios and telephones.
  5. Capability to develop and disseminate critical data impacting emergency situations.
  6. Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
