Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager Engineering and Project Delivery to lead our team in new project development, fleet modernization, and shipyard project execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of personnel, researching, planning, and executing projects, and ensuring compliance with class rules and flag state guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocate for shipboard safety and support timely attention to any safety issue.
  • Deliver engineering, design project planning, and project delivery for USMMI projects, including support of company portfolio growth, vessel acquisitions, and complex availabilities for existing fleet.
  • Ensure new technology integration and ship upgrades are compliant with class rules and flag state guidelines.
  • Oversee development of work specifications for voyage & emergency repairs, intermediate/special survey/dry-dock specifications, and oversee all aspects of successful completion of dry-docking and associated surveys.
  • Lead efforts to perform risk assessments for innovative projects and develop management of change plans for projects that represent a significant deviation from previous status quo.
  • Ensure project implementation is carried out in accordance with USMMI ISM procedures and act on continuous improvement initiatives with timely attention and completion in a cost-efficient manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent degree is required.
  • USCG License or equivalent international standard as Chief Engineer.
  • Experience as Port Engineer that has included complex projects or equivalent experience/service with a classification or Flag State authority with direct exposure to vessel regulatory compliance.
  • Project management experience and vessel management experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret level security clearance from the Defense Security Service (DSS).
Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Computer literacy in PC and Marine Management Software systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for conducting day-to-day business.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of forums, internal and external.
  • Superior writing and documentation skills.
  • Advanced communication, negotiation, conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of key business financial measurements (ROI, NPV, RONA, etc).
Travel Requirements

Extensive travel (including foreign travel and travel in cars, boats, ships, and airplanes) will be required to meet with OEMs regarding available equipment and technology, meet with ship design firms regarding conversion and/or new build projects, attend to shipyard maintenance and system sea trials, and on short notice for casualties, to conduct investigations and to protect the company's reputation.
