Job Summary:
A Housekeeping Aid position is available within the Environmental Management Services of a Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. This role falls under the supervision of a Housekeeping Supervisor and involves performing janitorial and custodial services. Work is done by hand with both light and heavy powered cleaning equipment.

The job opening will be utilized until it expires for any upcoming vacancies. The successful candidate will perform various duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, vacuuming carpets, emptying waste baskets, cleaning light globes and Venetian blinds, washing walls, windows, and ceilings, refilling toilet tissue and towel dispensers, and moving furniture to accomplish cleaning tasks. Additionally, the Housekeeping Aid will maintain the cleanliness of wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas within the facility.

The ideal candidate will possess physical stamina to handle continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing, as well as occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment weighing over 50 pounds. Good dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, concentration, and visual acuity are also necessary skills for this position.

The selected candidate will work a University Drive Tour (646) from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Monday through Friday.
