Job Title: Speech Language Pathology Assistant

Skiatook Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathology Assistant to join our team.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist, the Speech Language Pathology Assistant will assist in providing speech and language therapy services to students with identified speech and language disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct speech and language screenings and provide direct assistance to students under the supervision of the Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Implement documented IEP plans and protocols, and document student progress towards meeting established objectives.
  • Assist the Speech and Language Pathologist during assessments, prepare materials, and perform clerical duties.
  • Prepare therapy materials and equipment for use in the classroom and therapy activities.
  • Adapt or modify instructional materials and equipment as determined by student needs and abilities.
  • Assist in maintaining student records, tallying data, and preparing charts, records, graphs, and reports.
  • Organize classroom activities, display educational materials, and create an orderly and clean learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field, or graduation from a Speech-Language Pathology assistant certificate program.
  • Current registration as an SLA with the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Knowledge of speech and language pathology equipment, materials, and procedures, as well as normal speech, language, and hearing development.
  • Ability to assist speech and language therapists with implementation of IEPs, deal effectively with student attitudes and behaviors, and communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
Working Conditions:

The Speech Language Pathology Assistant will work in a school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and other staff members. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and move quickly on uneven terrain, as well as lift up to 25 pounds and push wheelchairs or pull wagons with students.
