Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist - Core Testing to join our team at PeaceHealth. This is a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position that requires a strong background in laboratory procedures and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate specimens for testing and apply established criteria to ensure quality results.
  • Perform waived, moderate, and high complexity laboratory tests, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot devices, tests, and procedures to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain equipment and tools, perform quality assurance testing, and ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, supervisors, and other caregivers to discuss test results, requirements, and testing protocols.
  • Provide guidance and direction to phlebotomy and specimen management teams, and assist with the orientation of new caregivers and students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biological Science, or an equivalent related science.
  • 2 years of clinical experience performing high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory department (new graduates will be considered).
  • Medical Technologist or discipline-specific certification, ASCP or equivalent (AMT, AAB), within 1 year of hire.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices.
  • Ability to move around the area with occasional sitting.
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
