Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care: Administer nursing care under the guidelines of school systems, ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of students and adult staff onsite.
  • Disease Management: Manage illness and control of infectious diseases; implement immunization programs, and provide school-based lectures on personal, social, and health care education.
  • Student Support: Assist teachers in dealing with children who have special healthcare needs, such as asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, ensuring clear understanding of medical conditions and necessary actions.
  • Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students and assist with verification of selected student absences by home or telephone contacts with parents.
Requirements
  • Education: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum at least one year of experience in the school nurse field.
  • Licensure/Certification: A licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia, ACLS, and BCLS certification.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Respond well in emergency medical situations, conduct counseling and crisis interventions if needed, practice ethnic and cultural sensitivity, and be familiar with health laws, special education legislation, and services.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
