Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. As a Certified Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients, including administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication, and incentive spirometry.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and administer non-medicated aerosol and humidity therapy
  • Plan and administer oxygen therapy, including implementation of oxygen therapy protocol where appropriate
  • Plan and administer aerosolized medication and specialty gas therapy
  • Plan and administer COPD care program
  • Perform airway management
  • Plan and administer incentive spirometry
  • Clean and reprocess respiratory therapy equipment and stock supplies for immediate use
  • Plan and administer bronchial hygiene and perform chest physiotherapy, including implementation of bronchial hygiene protocol where appropriate
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manual ventilation during resuscitation attempts and aid in rapid response calls when appropriate
  • Collect, analyze, and report arterial blood samples
  • Operate mechanical ventilators (invasive and non-invasive) and manage ventilator settings and weaning per protocols and provider orders
  • Perform electrocardiography studies
  • Perform bedside pulmonary function testing
  • Perform overnight pulse oximetry
  • Serve as a preceptor to newly hired employees and/or respiratory therapy students
  • Assist in research projects as directed by departmental and facility leadership
  • Provide patient, family, hospital staff, and physician education as appropriate
  • Attend staff or hospital meetings as required and participate on committees as directed
Requirements
  • At a minimum, an Associate's Degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory therapy educational program
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Active license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care
  • Current certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA) in Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Desired: current certificate from the AHA in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
