Job Summary:

As a key member of the Sterile Processing and Supply department at Tri-State Hospital, the Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. Under the supervision of the Surgical Services Director, this individual will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of sterile processing equipment, as well as the preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments and procedural trays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: The Sterile Processing Technician will be knowledgeable in the operation of sterile processing equipment, including washers, autoclaves, and other devices.
  • Surgical Instrumentation and Power Equipment: This individual will be familiar with surgical instrumentation and power equipment, and will ensure that each instrument is in good working order prior to use.
  • Instrument Preparation and Sterilization: The Sterile Processing Technician will assemble and sterilize instruments and procedural trays for outlying offices, and will verify and accurately document missing instruments according to standard operating procedures.
  • Record Keeping and Communication: This individual will maintain accurate records of sterilizer test results, and will effectively communicate with operating room personnel and others to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Work Area Maintenance: The Sterile Processing Technician will maintain a clean and organized work area, and will make recommendations to management for possible improvements.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification: CRCST upon hire
  • Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Problem Analysis and Communication: The Sterile Processing Technician will be able to analyze situations and recognize problems, and will effectively communicate with others to resolve issues.
  • Computer Proficiency: This individual will be proficient in computer systems and software.
