Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with Kaiser Permanente, you will provide high-quality ultrasound imaging services to patients in accordance with physician orders. Your expertise will be essential in preparing ultrasound rooms and diagnostic equipment, performing high-quality testing, and developing films. You will exercise professional judgment and uphold medical ethics in the performance of diagnostic services. Additionally, you will apply knowledge of the principles of growth and development to identify requirements relative to age-specific patients and maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostic Testing: You will perform quality images through clinical protocols and position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patients' comfort and ability. You will demonstrate knowledge to perform ultrasound procedures with appropriate equipment, develop films in accordance with radiographic techniques, and evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
- Computer System: You will ensure patient information is accurately inputted into the departmental computer system, check-in patients for the appropriate radiological procedure, and select the correct account during check-in.
- Customer Service: You will provide timely, responsive, expert services to customers in a positive and friendly manner, including patients, physicians, and fellow employees. You will inform consumers and those accompanying them when delays exist and how they are being addressed.
- Patient and Employee Safety: You will adhere to written procedures in the Policy and Procedure Manual on radiation safety rules, perform all necessary equipment checks prior to use, and protect patient and staff safety.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate required at hire from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Basic Life Support required at hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience in a hospital setting.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of radiation safety, safety precautions, and infection control practices.
