Job Summary and QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY:
- Under the general supervision of the Medical Technologist, performs routine, complex, or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological, and immunoassay procedures on body fluids.
- Requires no supervision for processing specimens, conducting tests, or reporting results. No review of patient results is necessary prior to reporting.
- Maintains required competencies in all assigned departments.
- Demonstrates accuracy in all testing performed.
- Adheres to patient safety, risk management, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Conducts related quality control and required proficiency testing in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Commits to maintaining competence and pursuing personal and professional growth.
- Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities within the unit and across other service areas.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by managing time effectively, reducing waste (of time and supplies), and promoting cost-effectiveness while ensuring patient safety and quality of care.

Job Requirements:
Education required and/or preferred:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science (MT/CLS) from an accredited institution.
Or be qualified under CLIA guidelines for MT/CLS.
ASCP certification Licensure/Certification
PREFERRED:
MT or equivalent certification, or be currently eligible to sit for MT or equivalent certification exam preferred.
Experience required or preferred:

One year of clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical lab training.
