The County Surveyor is a critical role within the Alameda County Public Works Agency, responsible for overseeing the County's professional and administrative responsibilities in land surveying, map review, boundary surveying, and construction surveying.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the activities of surveyors and other technical personnel in the survey section of the Agency.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws and regulations governing land surveying.
- Develop and implement effective strategies for land development and mapping projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of surveying services.
- Provide technical guidance and support to survey staff.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil or mining engineering or surveying.
- The equivalent of four years of experience in professional civil engineering or land surveying, including two years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
- Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer or land surveyor issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
- Demonstrated professional land surveying experience with knowledge of pertinent state and local laws and regulations.
- Excellent team leadership and management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and legal surveying issues to stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS).
