Job Title: Nursing Assistant - Behavioral Health

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at the Department of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with mental illnesses.

Job Summary:

The Nursing Assistant will work under the direct supervision of licensed nursing personnel to perform routine and specialized patient care duties. This includes observing, monitoring, and reporting patients' physical and behavioral conditions, documenting pertinent information in the clinical record, and relaying patient information to the treatment team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, ambulating, and oral hygiene
  • Assist patients with their personal needs, including toileting, feeding, and transferring
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation
  • Collect specimens and perform other tasks as assigned by licensed nursing personnel
  • Participate in patient care activities and groups based on individual treatment plans
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Health care or related experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend, and climb at least two flights of stairs
  • Ability to work with repetitive patient behaviors and tolerate noise levels
