Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a Substitute Nurse. As a Substitute Nurse, you will provide nursing and health-related services to students in our school district.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out specific nursing tasks and activities as identified by the Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Observe students regularly to detect health needs
  • Maintain up-to-date individualized health records
  • Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters as directed by the RN
  • Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures
  • Make recommendations to the system-wide RN on health needs of individual students
  • Implement board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases
  • Participate in inservice training programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Active practical nurse license (LPN) in Tennessee
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Minimum one year experience as an LPN
  • Knowledge of growth and development and health problems/conditions commonly seen among school-age children
  • Knowledge of the treatment and nursing care needs of children with special health problems
  • Maintains expertise by continuing education in current treatment and care of children in school settings
  • Demonstrates competence in carrying out nursing tasks delegated by RNs
Working Conditions

This position requires normal working conditions.

Terms of Employment

This is an hourly workday position with a day contract and LPN salary scale (teacher assistant scale).

Immediate Supervisor

The Registered Nurse and Supervisor of Special Services will serve as the immediate supervisor for this position.
