Job Summary

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is seeking a skilled Chemist to conduct chemical analysis and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis, as well as guiding laboratory technicians on the use of laboratory equipment and preparation for laboratory tests.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analysis using standard and specialized laboratory equipment
• Guide laboratory technicians on the use of laboratory equipment and preparation for laboratory tests
• Plan, organize, and coordinate professional level quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis
• Assist with maintaining lab equipment and instruments, including glassware using specified cleaning techniques
• Conduct proficiency tests of laboratories and institutions for quality control of testing programs

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and two years of experience in a chemistry laboratory or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
