Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a key member of our Cardiology department, you will play a vital role in coordinating and participating in various technical tasks, tests, and determinations involving the utilization of radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures, including in vivo and in vitro studies, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma, and apparatus for in vitro counting.
  • Calibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients, formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits, and review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
  • Evaluate recorded images for technical quality and process computerized image data, including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images.
  • Explain procedures to patients, assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients of all ages during an examination, and initiate life support measures if necessary.
  • Perform IV, EKG prep, and tracing.
Quality Control and Maintenance
  • Maintain daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual quality control on nuclear imaging equipment and hot lab equipment.
  • Monitor the Nuclear Medicine Department with a portable survey meter for possible contamination.
  • Ensure compliance with ICANL accreditation standards, NC Department of Radiation Protection, and JACHO standards.
Training and Development
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures and techniques to meet the needs of specific protocols.
  • Consult with physicians concerning the application of nuclear medicine procedures and techniques.
  • Provide instruction and technical guidance in training new employees.
Requirements
  • Requires successful completion of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with experience in Cardiology.
Work Schedule

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
