Overview: The role involves supporting the physician or physician assistant in delivering primary healthcare services to patients within the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare necessary materials, supplies, and equipment while ensuring the patient is ready for their medical examination.
- Gather patient history and essential medical information, including vital signs, temperature, height, weight, vision, and primary concerns.
- Administer direct patient care such as ear irrigation, vaccinations, medication administration, wound care, and suture removal.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze patient specimens as instructed by the physician or physician assistant.
- Educate patients and their families on physician-recommended preventive care, medication adherence, test preparation, treatment monitoring, and symptom observation.
- Conduct follow-up communications with patients via telephone to provide requested information, test results, or physician instructions.
- Engage in organizational duties to support the practice's mission through continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Adhere to all compliance responsibilities associated with the position.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Required: Minimum of one year of supervisory experience, medical knowledge and terminology, proficiency in computer skills/data entry (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook), understanding of insurance contracts and requirements, and familiarity with clinical and business office functions.
- Minimum Experience: Three years in a relevant role.
- Desired: An Associate's Degree is preferred, along with five years of job-related experience and previous medical office experience.
- Some manual skills and motor coordination required.
- Potential occupational risks.
- Medium to heavy physical effort, with the ability to exert up to 35 lbs. of force.
- Exposure to various environmental factors.
